MEET YOUR JUDGE:

Star Butterfly - Cecil Con - North East, MDMelanie McKay

Melanie grew up in Cecil County and graduated from Cecil College back in 2013. This is her first time judging a cosplay contest and she is very excited to take on this role! The past two years she has attended Cecil Con in costume herself, and last year she participated in her first costume contest with her first ever handmade costume.

She knows how exciting it is to create your own cosplay costume and is very excited to have an opportunity to ask kids about the costumes they made and see them walk them down the runway!

Melanie loves the arts, costumes, and kids, so naturally she was the perect fit for judging this year’s kid’s division of the cosplay contest! Melanie is an elementary school teacher who loves to surprise her classes by wearing costumes to school every now and again.

She has previously cosplayed as Honey Lemon from Big Hero 6, Star Butterfly from Star vs. the Forces of Evil, and Vanelopee Von Schweetz from Wreck it Ralph. Her elementary students love when they recognize what character Miss McKay is dressed as! Melanie will be looking forward to seeing everyone’s hard work and cosplay costumes at Cecil Con 2019!
